I work with adults experiencing a wide range of difficulties including: depression, anxiety, stress, worry, feeling stuck or lost, loneliness, low self-esteem or a lack of confidence, self-acceptance, identity, relationship difficulties, or concerns about body image. I’m LGBTQIA+ affirmative.
I’m an integrative counsellor, which means I draw on a range of approaches to therapy, putting them together in a way that’s unique to each person I work with. I collaborate with clients to figure out what might help them through the difficulties that have brought them to counselling.
I believe that humans are social beings and that the relationships we find ourselves in – both with friends and loved ones, in our environment, and in society more broadly – continue to shape and impact us throughout our lives. Counselling can provide space to explore this and bring about change.
Sessions often involve talking together in a quiet and confidential space and exploring what comes up. We might talk about your experiences, feelings, thoughts, patterns of behaviour, your sense of yourself, or your relationships with others. Sometimes we might take a different approach and draw on questionnaires or worksheets, or more creative tasks such as journaling or collage-making, depending on your needs and preferences. I often help people to recognise their strengths and the resources they can draw on. Therapy can sometimes ask people to step out of their comfort zone, but it’s your choice if and when you do this. I’ll check in with you about how you feel counselling is going as we work together, but I welcome feedback at other times too.
