FAQs

Sometimes people can feel anxious about asking questions about therapy or potential therapists. I’ve tried to answer some frequently answered questions below.

How much does counselling cost?

Please see my prices page for current details.

How many sessions will I need?

This can vary depending on what’s brought people to counselling. I explore each person’s aims for counselling when we first meet and I’m happy to discuss any financial or time constraints we might need to work within.

Is it okay to cancel a session?

Life doesn’t stop when we sign up for counselling, so I completely understand that people might need to miss or cancel a session. I ask people to give me 24 hours’ notice in order to avoid being charged for missed sessions. Of course, the more notice people can give me, the more flexibility I’m able to offer all my clients. If you need to cancel I’ll try to offer you an alternative appointment if I can.

What age groups do you work with?

I work with adult clients (age 18+) and I’ve worked therapeutically with adults of all ages. My previous work in higher education means I have a particular interest in supporting students.

Why did you become a counsellor?

I find it hugely meaningful and rewarding to be with people as they face difficult and challenging situations in life. I’m passionate about helping people to overcome obstacles and find personal growth.

I’ve always been a listener. My initial training was as a musician. I’d planned to train as a music therapist in my 20s but got sidetracked into a career in education. Learning more about talking therapies (and experiencing the benefits of counselling for myself) led me to retrain in my 30s.
